How to Do a Mid-Year Goal Check-in
Can you believe we're almost halfway through 2025? Summer is right around the corner, and while everyone's thinking about vacation plans and pool days, let's chat about something most people aren't talking about right now - those goals you set back in January. đ For realz, if you're like most people, you wrote down some awesome intentions, got super excited...and then possibly forgot all about them (no judgment here!).
Let me share something that might rock your socks off: goal setting isn't just a January thing! As someone who considers "failing fast" one of my superpowers, I'm sharing my process for mid-year goal check-ins that keep me on track all year long.
Here's how to check in with your goals (in just 15 minutes!):
1. Dust off those January goals
First, find that list you made back in January (or whenever you last set some goals). If you didn't set any goals yet this year - hells to the no on waiting until January 2026! Today is your fresh start. Permission granted to goal-set any darn time you feel like it.
2. Ask yourself: "Have I even started?"
For each goal, the first question is simple - have you taken any action? Be honest with yourself. If the answer is "nope," that's totally okay! The important thing is understanding why. Maybe something unexpected came up that needed your attention, or perhaps the goal isn't resonating with you anymore.
3. Evaluate your progress
If you have started taking action, ask yourself: "Am I getting the results I hoped for by now?" If yes, that's amazeballs! Celebrate that win! If not, it's time to put on your detective hat and figure out why. This is the perfect time to adjust your plan or possibly even the goal itself.
4. Reconnect with your "why"
Ask yourself if you're still passionate about this goal. If not, there's no shame in letting it go. If you are still excited about it, dig deeper: What activities did you think would help you reach this goal? Have you been doing them consistently? If yes, and you're still not seeing results, now's the time to try a different approach.
5. Create actionable next steps
The big mistake many of us make is creating goals without specific, trackable activities. For each goal you're still committed to, decide: "What specific actions will I take daily/weekly to move toward this milestone?" Then actually schedule these activities into your planner.
Make it a habit!
The true superpower here is making this check-in process a regular part of your life. Start with mid-year check-ins, then quarterly, then monthly. Eventually, staying connected to your goals becomes part of how you naturally plan your days.
Count me in for making the rest of 2025 the time where we actually follow through on our dreams! Because taking regular time to check in with yourself isn't just nice - it's what separates those who make things happen from those who wonder what happened.
Here's to failing fast, adjusting our course, and making this our most purposeful quarter yet!
