Reclaim Your Holiday Joy: Simple Tips for a Stress-Free Season
We’re rolling into the holiday season—a time that’s supposed to be magical, but let's be real: for a lot of us, it’s become just another overwhelming to-do list. If you’re looking at December and thinking, “Here we go again,” I get it. The cooking, the parties, the decorations, the gift lists...it can feel endless, and by the time it’s all over, we’re left needing a holiday from the holidays!
But I have good news: You have the power to bring back the joy and harmony of the season. 💖 I’m sharing a few tips that have helped me flip the script, turning the holidays from "one more thing" into a season I actually enjoy for me, not just for everyone else.
Step 1: Write Out #allthethings.
Take a piece of paper and make an honest list of everything you’re doing for the holidays. Gift wrapping, baking, decorating—break it down and write it out. This is your reality check to see exactly what you’re juggling.
Step 2: What Do YOU Actually Love?
Now, look at that list and circle the things that genuinely bring you joy. Maybe it’s watching holiday movies with the family, decorating gingerbread houses, or sneaking away with some eggnog (no judgment here!). Let’s keep what fills you up and leave the rest behind.
Step 3: Calendar It, Friend!
Now that you know what you love, it’s time to make space for it. Grab your calendar and pick dates to enjoy these moments without stress. Plan your gift-wrapping party, schedule that cookie-decorating session, or carve out time to watch holiday movies without interruption. The best way to actually enjoy these moments? Give them the time they deserve.
Step 4: Share the Love (and the Work)!
You don’t have to do it all. Have a family meeting and let everyone know you’re reclaiming your time. Share the list with them, and if there’s something they love, let them take charge! Trust me, it’s amazing how much joy it brings when everyone gets involved, and you’re not the only one carrying the load.
Here’s the real magic: you deserve to enjoy the holiday season for you, not just as the "magic-maker" for everyone else. So this year, try letting go of a few things and holding onto the ones that truly make you happy.
