4 Steps to Re-Establish Routines
Hey friend. Let’s be real—life gets busy, and sometimes our routines take a backseat. One day it’s just a skipped workout or forgotten planner, and the next thing you know, your carefully crafted habits feel miles away. Sound familiar?
Here’s the thing: you don’t have to dive back into everything at once. Trying to restart it all will just leave you feeling overwhelmed. Instead, take a deep breath—we’re going to ease back into those routines with small, intentional steps that actually stick. Here’s how:
Pick ONE Routine to Start With
Start small. Choose just one routine to focus on—maybe your morning routine, weekly planning, or fitness. Which one will make the biggest difference in how you feel? Forget about “doing it all” and give yourself permission to focus on this one thing for now.
Review and Adjust the Routine
Before jumping in, take a moment to ask yourself: does this routine still work for me? Life changes, and your routines should too. If your mornings are busier now or you’re juggling new priorities, tweak the routine to fit your current reality. A quick review helps make sure it still serves you.
Anchor Your Routine or Buddy Up
Routines stick better when they’re tied to something familiar. For example, link your morning routine to brewing your first cup of coffee. Already a habit? Anchor your new routine to it! Or, if accountability keeps you motivated, find a buddy who’s working on something similar and check in with each other.
Schedule It Into Your Weekly Plan
A task list isn’t enough—your routine needs a time slot. Block off time for it in your weekly plan, just like you would for an appointment or meeting. When you see it scheduled, it feels real, and you’ll be far more likely to follow through.
You’ve got this! Getting back into routines doesn’t have to feel overwhelming. Start with one habit, tweak it as needed, and make it part of your plan. The key is consistency—small, steady steps now will lead to big results down the road. Give it a try and see how it feels to have your groove back!
