The Daily Reset
For years, I treated decluttering like a project—a massive one that had to be tackled all at once. I’d block out an entire weekend to “finally get the pantry organized” or wait for the energy surge that came with the new year or back-to-school season. But those moments were few and far between. And in between? Life happened. The mess piled up, and the stress right along with it.
Then I discovered something that changed the way I manage our home—and my mindset—completely: the daily reset.
It’s a simple strategy I learned from my friend and decluttering expert Katy Wells (host of the Maximize Minimalist podcast), and I’ll be honest—at first, I thought “that’s too small to make a real difference.” But now? It’s the one thing that keeps our home feeling calm and under control… without needing to be “perfect” all the time.
If your space feels overwhelming or you’re tired of cleaning up only to have it undone five minutes later, this one’s for you.
Start by understanding the difference between clutter and expected mess.
This distinction was eye-opening. Expected mess is the result of living—breakfast dishes, board games on the floor, shoes by the door. Clutter is the unused, unwanted stuff that’s taking up space and mental energy. A daily reset isn’t about eliminating every mess—it’s about managing what’s normal, so it doesn’t pile up and become overwhelming.
Choose one or two areas for your reset.
Your reset might include clearing the kitchen counters, putting toys back in the bin, or folding blankets on the couch. It’s not your entire house—it’s just the high-traffic zones that tend to get out of control fast. Focus on spaces that make the biggest difference to your day.
Anchor your reset to an existing habit.
This is where the magic happens. Katy recommends tying your reset to something you’re already doing—like after lunch, before dinner, or when the kids finish playing. For me, I reset the kitchen and main living space when I take the dogs out for their midday walk. It’s quick, and now it’s automatic.
Keep it short and simple.
We’re talking 5–10 minutes, max. Katy says most of her resets take under five minutes—and I’ve found the same to be true in my home. The key is consistency. A few minutes every day keeps things feeling manageable and stops mess from becoming chaos.
A daily reset isn’t about having a spotless house—it’s about creating a rhythm that supports your sanity. Thanks to Katy’s approach, I no longer feel thrown off by dishes in the sink or dog toys on the floor. I know they’ll get handled.
If your home has been stressing you out or you feel like you’re constantly “catching up,” try adding a reset into your day. Start small. Stay consistent. And give yourself permission to let it be simple.

This Week’s Buzz: Why “The Pink Bee”?
This week’s Weekly Buzz is a little different—I’m sharing the story behind the name The Pink Bee. If you’ve ever wondered where it came from (and no, it’s not just because I love bees and pink), I’m pulling back the curtain.
From being told not to wear pink at a tech conference (yes, really), to co-founding a business called My Beehive that eventually had to close… this name carries a lot of meaning. It’s a symbol of reclaiming my feminine energy, reframing failure, and building a community that works together—just like a hive.
If you’ve ever had to reinvent yourself, overcome a setback, or just love a good origin story, this one’s for you.
Remember, this video is only available until Wednesday—don’t miss it! Head to The Pink Bee app to watch now.
