How to Turn Your To-Do List Into Done
Raise your hand if you've ever had a massive to-do list that somehow never gets shorter! 🙋‍♀️ Seriously, though, most of us start each week with the best intentions, only to find ourselves on Friday wondering where all our time went (and why we still have so many unchecked boxes).
Today I'm sharing a concept that's simple but oh-so-powerful. It's the difference between a "task" and an "appointment," and understanding this difference might just change your relationship with time.
Notice the mindset difference
Think about it - when you have a dentist appointment, you SHOW UP. You treat it as non-negotiable. But items on your to-do list? Those are things you "hope" to get done, "want" to accomplish, or "should" tackle when you find time. See the sneaky difference? One feels mandatory, the other optional.
Weekly planning is your BFF
Every Sunday, I sit down with my calendar and create my weekly plan. Part of this process is understanding what needs to be an appointment vs a small, less urgent task:
-
First, block in all true appointments (client calls, meetings, kid activities)
-
Then, look at my to-do list and identify the MOST important tasks for the week
-
Finally (and this is the magic part), I turn those important tasks into APPOINTMENTS with myself by assigning them specific days and times
Be ruthlessly honest about what matters
The power of this method is it forces you to decide what's truly important. When you have to pick which tasks deserve appointment status, you naturally focus on your "one thing" in different areas of life. Ask yourself: "If I ONLY got these things done this week, would I call it a success?" Those are your appointment-worthy tasks!
Honor your self-appointments
This is where the rubber meets the road, friend. When you've scheduled time to work on your course outline or plan your launch, treat that block with the same level of commitment as you would a client call. No canceling on yourself at the last minute! That time is sacred.
When you implement this method, two awesome things happen:
-
You get crystal clear on priorities, which means less guilt about all the things you're NOT doing
-
You create realistic expectations about what actually fits in your week, preventing that frantic "too much to do" feeling
I've seen this simple shift create such momentum with my clients. Instead of scattered efforts across a million tasks, they're completing the RIGHT things first and feeling that sweet satisfaction of moving their biggest needles forward.
Try this for just ONE week and let me know how it goes. I'm rooting for you!
If your summer schedule is already feeling like it's about to spiral out of control, this method is PERFECT for creating some harmony between mom time, work time, and pool time!

The #1 Mistake People Make When Starting a New System (and What to Do Instead)
If you've ever bought a beautiful new planner only to let it sit on your desk for weeks because you felt like you needed to "get organized first," this video is going to be a total game-changer. I'm breaking down the biggest mistake that keeps people stuck when they're trying to start any new system—and honestly, it's probably something you're doing right now without even realizing it.
You'll learn why that "I need to clean everything up first" mentality is actually sabotaging your progress, plus I'm sharing the simple mindset shift that lets you start building systems that actually stick. I'll give you a real-world example you can apply to whatever system you're trying to implement today, so you can finally move forward instead of staying stuck in preparation mode.
