Know the Value of Your Time
Hey friend, let’s talk about your time—and how much it’s really worth. You might not think about it this way, but your time is one of the most valuable resources you have. And yet, we all find ourselves caught up in the hustle, overloading our schedules with things that drain us instead of focusing on what truly matters.
Here’s the truth: it’s not about hustling harder, waking up earlier, or doing more. It’s about getting the right things done in a way that reduces stress and frees up time for what you actually want to do—not just what you have to do.
When you begin to see the real value of your time, everything changes. You’ll start making decisions differently, prioritizing tasks that align with your goals, and creating space in your life for joy, relaxation, and connection. Sound good? Let’s dive into some simple steps to help you reclaim your time and make it work for you.
Put a Dollar Value on Your Time
Take a moment to calculate how much your time is worth. Start by thinking about how much you’d pay someone to do the roles you currently juggle every day— such as child care, financial management, household chores, cooking, errands, etc. Then, ask yourself: Would I have to pay someone to do this task for me?
You will quickly see that if you were to outsource several tasks you currently perform, the cost gets pretty high pretty quickly. In fact, the latest studies show that it would cost between $170,000 - $200,000 a year to outsource all the work a full-time at-home parent does.
So, figure out what your hourly rate is! It will 100% be an eye-opening exercise for you.
Start Tracking Your Time
Before you can free up time, you need to see where it’s going. Spend a few days writing down everything you do and how long it takes.
Then, identify the tasks that drain your time and energy.
Ask, “Is This Worth My Time?”
Now ask yourself… how much would it cost me to outsource this task? Is the value of my time worth more than what I could pay someone else to do this for me? but don’t align with your priorities. Identifying time-wasters is the first
Protect and Enjoy Your Downtime
Freeing up your time isn’t about creating space to cram more into your day—it’s about creating space for what matters most. Use the time you reclaim for you. For the things you love. Connect with loved ones, pursue hobbies, or simply relax.
When you’ve prioritized the right tasks, you can enjoy this downtime guilt-free. With the systems and processes I teach in The TOP Program, you can seamlessly prioritize your tasks, reduce overwhelm, and fully enjoy the downtime you’ve worked so hard to create.
