Why Rest Isn't Enough
I used to think I had this whole self-care thing figured out. I was prioritizing rest, carving out downtime, getting those bubble baths in. But something was still missing. I felt flat, unfulfilled, even a little depressed despite doing "all the right things."
Then I heard something on a podcast that changed everything: "The opposite of work is rest. The opposite of fun is depression." Holy lightbulb moment! I was resting well, but I wasn't having any actual fun. And friend, there's a huge difference.
Ask yourself the telling question: "When did I last have genuine fun?"
If you have to think hard about this answer, that's your first clue. Fun isn't the same as rest. Fun is what makes you laugh out loud, connects you with your inner kid, and fills you with pure joy (not just relaxation).
Make your personal "fun list" right now.
Think about activities that make you feel genuinely happy and carefree. Maybe it's dancing in your kitchen to loud music, game nights with your family, shopping for clothes, or those friend dates where you laugh until your stomach hurts. Write down at least 5 things that bring you joy, not just peace.
Schedule fun into your weekly planning like you would any important appointment.
Just like you (hopefully!) block time for rest, you need to intentionally protect time for fun. It doesn't have to be elaborate; even 20 minutes of dancing while making dinner or a quick game with your kids counts.
Both rest AND fun are non-negotiables for our mental health. Rest recharges us from work, but fun protects us from sadness and anxiety. You deserve both in your life regularly, not just when you can "escape" on a girls' weekend. So this week, pick one thing from your fun list and actually do it. Your inner child (and your overall happiness) will thank you.

Why I Broke Up With My Task List (and Became More Productive Than Ever)
Task lists are supposed to help us get things done, right? It feels good to write everything down, and even better when you cross something off. But here's the hard truth: my task list wasn't helping me; it was actually hurting me. I was constantly exhausted, always feeling behind, and waking up each day with more tasks than I'd finished the day before.
Breaking up with my task list felt risky, but it completely transformed how I manage my time, and now I'm more productive than ever while actually feeling GOOD about how I spend my day. I'm sharing the three big problems with task lists that no one talks about, why you're stuck in a cycle of stress, and the powerful strategy that helps me get more done without the overwhelm.
